Named after former graduate and financial contributor Fred Bramlage the arena was built to replace Ahearn Field House. The Wildcats basketball program began in 1902 has a long history of success and is part of the Big 12 Conference. The University was founded in 1863 in Manhattan Kansas and today educates nearly 24000 students.
